Life is Good ….Fall Easy Stripe Table Runners

I have a good news to share! I got my driving licence! Very excited for me, I went on my first driving trip to the grocery store by myself. I also got good news at the doctor’s office. I had to have a mammogram done and after all the worries the doctor think it’s just a swollen lymph node. It’s such a relief!
I found “Easy striped table runner”pattern designed by Karen Montgomery on a trip to Pittsburgh. We stopped at the “Quilt company” shop and the owner designs fabrics for Timeless Treasures, she design the pattern, too. I picked up these fabrics she designed.
I wanted to show you my fall table runners:

If you look carefully you will see that this table runner is different from the first picture one and the picture below. It’s the same fabric. Just by changing the way you cut the fabric it looks very different.

The pretty candle holder was a gift from my lovely hubby!

I love the pattern and I am addicted to it! I made couple of table runners already.

This is the back of the Fall table runner. I just love all the colors!
My friend Heather is learning to quilt, this is her first project and she did great job! We decided to exchange runners from our fabrics. You can always use more runners!
Happy sewing!

Spring Table Runner

I crossed another project off my to do list! I used the same Ribbon Star Table Runner pattern I used on another project, but made the sides curved to fit my table.
I used to use this table for my sewing machine, but now I have a new table with adjustable legs from Ikea. This is my Janome 6125 machine. I have abandoned my Janome, because I really love the stitch on the Baby Lock QCP.

I had to do the binding on bias because of the curved sides. The pattern was a Christmas inspired, but using bright colors, looks very different! I love that butterfly fabric and it was my inspiration for picking the other fabrics. Here is a closer picture of the table runner:

Another finished UFO

I finished another project in February. This is my “Ribbon Star” table runner:

The back of the table runner looks good, too! I used a fabric from my mom’s stash. I brought it from Bulgaria. It feels so good any time you finish a project, isn’t it?

Happy Sewing!

Super Bowl Quilting, Glow in the Dark, Free Motion Quilting and Food

During the Super Bowl I worked on the binding of my table runner. I am very happy the way it turn out. I used a Glow in the Dark thread for the quilting. You can see it really glows! I tried taking pictures in the dark of my quilt, but it has to be very dark and it’s not working, but it glows!

This was my first time using the darning foot on my Janome and doing stippling. It was fun, but I need more practice! I quilted squares in the four patches and in the middle and did the stippling on the white triangles and that was a challenge.

I made the best Buffalo wings using Alton’s Brown recipe. You can get it here. First you steam the wings for 10 min and then refrigerate for an hour, then bake 20 min each side on a rack. Toss with the sauce of your choice! Delicious!

I made Double Bake Potatoes that were great with the wings! πŸ™‚

Sixth Picture Meme – I’ve Been Tagged

I was tagged by my friend Millie from Millie’s Quilting for a Sixth Picture Meme. I had to go to my Pictures folder, then go to the sixth folder and show the sixth picture in it and tell the story behind it. Here it is:

It’s a picture of my DH and my brother-in-law Ryan in front of the house they lived in Arizona. Ryan is in the Army so they have to move a lot. They are living in Hawaii right now. My husband and his father drove from PA to Arizona their car and then my sister-in-law and the kids flew there to join Ryan. They are such a lovely family and I miss my nephews!

As a bonus I decided to show you the Sixth picture of My Quilts folder:

I made this “Ribbon Star Table Runner” few years ago for my mother-in-law and then I decided to make one for me too. I used original pattern from Happy Sewing Room. I have mine quilted and its missing only the binding. I hope showing it will motivate me to finish it soon πŸ™‚

Now it’s my turn to tag six people to play along. Tag your it:

The rules are simple and here they are:

Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
Go to the 6th Folder, then pick the 6th picture in that folder.
Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.
Tag 6 other people that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

Have fun with the game!

Amanda’s Quilt

I made this pretty table runner for my friend Amanda. I pick the red fabric to match her red couch, but it does look a lot like Christmas quilt. I had it pieced for her birthday and then I had to quilt it, label and bind it. I am very excited she can finally use it it her house!

I used a Happy Sewing Room pattern design by my mother in law. I really enjoy making it! πŸ™‚
