On the road… Raffle quilt ….fabrics

I saw this beautiful raffle quilt on a display in Chestertown, Maryland.

I bought two tickets so wish me luck! 🙂
It will benefit Crossroads Community Foundation.

I was on a search for a quilt shop, but the town didn’t have one and then I saw it!

Chestertown had a lot of little shops that was a pleasure to window shop. We enjoed the view of the frozen river.

On the drive home I found a quilt shop called “Quilter’s hive” in DE. They were having a class and had a lot of fabric.

I wasn’t looking for any specific fabric so I got half a yard of this pretty print. I usually get in a lot of trouble at quilt shops, so I did good! 🙂

After I was so good, I realized I need backing for one of my PhD projects, so I ordered online from delta patchwork some fabrics.

I love the packaging and the fabric was very nice, too.

Happy sewing!

Inspiring Quilts

Don’t you love the colors on this quilt? My mother in law made Bonnie’s “Orange crush quilt”. I just love the color combination!

Below is the back of the quilt. Mom used her embroidery machine to quilt a design in the middle of some of the blocks and just love it! My mother in law ones a small quilt shop “Happy Sewing Room” in Hamburg, PA. She also has a blog you can visit HERE. I am very lucky to have a such talented mother in law! She inspires me to quilt! Thank you Mom!
Here is sampler she made for the shop using this Christmas panel:

I just love this fall table runner with rich colors! The pictures don’t do justice to the quilts! I had to take pictures as they were washed and wrinkled very nice.

Here is a little sneak pick of the first quilt from the “Be Attitudes” book.
I debated between those two fabrics for the scarf so I made two blocks. I am gonna make individual quilts and I am gonna make a whole quilt with all the blocks put together.

I need help what color to do the letters. It’s gonna say “be warm“. What color should I use?
Have a great day!

Finding Inspiration at a Quilt Show

Where do you find inspiration for your quilts?

Is it in new fabric you got or a new pattern or a trip to a quilt show ? We quilters can find inspiration in lot of places. I often get inspired looking at my blogging friends blogs and their creative ideas. I am very excited my mother in-law is blogging now!
She taught me to quilt and I find inspiration looking at her projects, “talking fabric” and visiting quilt shops together. You should check her blog: Happy Sewing Room.

Some of you know that my mother in-law owns a quilt shop and I am very lucky to be able to have a first look at the new fabrics and patterns 🙂
If you are visiting PA and your husband wants to shop at Cabelas you quilting girls should visit Happy Sewing Room Quilt Shop!

Few weeks ago we visited Muncy Historical Society Quilt Show in Muncy, PA.

I really loved this Signature Quilt called the Muncy Compass. They replicated the pattern from an Antique Quilt from 1855.

This quilt is hand stitched and called “Martha Washington Star” in memory of the fallen of 9/11.

You can click to see the center block.

“Quilt for the brave” is made by members of the Hughesville Guild to be donated to a family of fallen soldier.

This quilt is “Box of candy” 🙂

I like the combination of black and white and greens and blues in this contemporary quilt.

This was the last picture I took because my camera battery wasn’t charged. Oh well, I hope you enjoy the quilt show and found some inspiration!

I am looking forward to Hershey Quilt Odyssey show this weekend.

Happy sewing!
