Fall Quilt Festival

I have been traveling with my husband this week, but I want to join the fun of showing one of my quilts at the Fall Quilt Festival that Amy is hosting again. Today is the last day so I am very excited I am able to join!
It was hard to pick a quilt, as we quilters love all of our quilts, but I settle on my Welcome Quilt!

It’s hanging in our living room to Welcome all of our guests to our home.

I hope they feel very Welcome. I am working on a couple new projects, but I wanted to show a quilted one. This was my second project I did a free motion quilting. I am really pleased with this quilt.
Thank you for stopping by and feel free to leave me a comment as I would love to visit your blog as well! There are more then 500 participants at the Festival, so go have a look! Thank you Amy for hosting it!

Happy sewing!

Secret Project – Baby Quilt

I can reveal one of the secret projects I have been working on. I made a baby quilt for my friend Amanda’s baby.

It’s gonna be a baby girl! She was surprised at the baby shower last Sunday!

This is Amanda and me posing with the baby quilt.

The quilt has all the letters from the alphabet and different animal for each letter.

I first did quilting in a ditch and then decided to do stippling in the border and in the sashing. I was gonna use the purple fabric for main background , but then I decided that I needed something more plain and run to my local quilt shop and picked up pink fusion fabric.

Here is a close up of the first block and my quilting.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I am not Irish, but my favorite color is green, so
Happy St. Patrick’s
day friends!
I just put on a green sweater so I won’t get pinched ! 🙂
I am still learning about the holiday. It’s also called Shamrock’s day.
According to legend, St. Patrick used the shamrock , a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish.

I like a post with a picture, so here is a photo of my Pineapple quilt:

I had fun quilting it! I started quilting it on my Janome and finished it on my new Baby Lock 🙂

Here is a close up of the quilting. I did free motion quilting.
I have a lot to learn, but I had fun quilting it! 🙂

Happy St. Patrick’s day!

Super Bowl Quilting, Glow in the Dark, Free Motion Quilting and Food

During the Super Bowl I worked on the binding of my table runner. I am very happy the way it turn out. I used a Glow in the Dark thread for the quilting. You can see it really glows! I tried taking pictures in the dark of my quilt, but it has to be very dark and it’s not working, but it glows!

This was my first time using the darning foot on my Janome and doing stippling. It was fun, but I need more practice! I quilted squares in the four patches and in the middle and did the stippling on the white triangles and that was a challenge.

I made the best Buffalo wings using Alton’s Brown recipe. You can get it here. First you steam the wings for 10 min and then refrigerate for an hour, then bake 20 min each side on a rack. Toss with the sauce of your choice! Delicious!

I made Double Bake Potatoes that were great with the wings! 🙂
